Today was a good day compared to the previous two. I had very little pain and made it through the day without needing to take any Ibuprofen. My mouth didn't start bleeding until about 4 pm. After showering I was able to put my lip up and find the source of the bleeding, well the general area. It was too messy to see exactly where it was coming from. But I will definitely be asking the oral surgeons tomorrow about this. I'm continuing to ice periodically throughout the day. Other than that, it was same old stuff.
I was able to eat some tortellini tonight for dinner. It was a good change of pace from spaghetti, albeit not much different from spaghetti. I also managed to enjoy a few french fries tonight. I mostly sucked on them until the were soft enough to swallow but they were delicious! I am pleased to say that I have gained two pounds back. It's not much but its a start. I've been tempted to do some sort or work out the last few days. I'm thinking I can handle a light weight lifting session, so that's on my list to try this week. Wish me luck.
I'm talking much better and I would say its no longer a mumble. I'm by no means speaking crystal clear, but much clearer than when this all started.
Man, all of this barely being able eat stuff is driving me crazy, and I'm not even the one going through it! I've been waiting for that one blog post where you erupt in a series of profanities, cursing the surgery and your very existence. But still, nothing. You have remarkable patience.
ReplyDeletePatience is a virtue, Ryan. But i'm getting some "solid" foods in these days. I'm about to try a soft shelled taco, granted I will have to cut it so small that it won't resemble a taco but at least it will still taste like it. No Ryanomite explosions here!
ReplyDeleteHey Jake!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been checking on your blog for a while. I have been pretty busy at work and not enough time to goof off. I wanted to update you on Elesa - baby boy, Gavin, born by C-section on July 22. He is adorable. You are looking better - almost recognizable again. I can hardly wait until I read the blog about eating whatever you want and no pain!! I do have to tell you that I made my first batch of salsa last week and it was really good!! Sorry you couldn't have any. I ate enough for the both of us! Ok, I need to head home. I'll write later.
Malia
Hey Malia!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear Fred is keeping you busy at work! And forward my congrats to Elesa and her family. I can picture her baby boy coming out of the womb with an eight pack of abs haha. And I can't hard wait to write about the day I can eat whatever. I'm almost at the point where I think I can handle some ooey gooey bars so my mom and I might be making some this week...wish us luck! I'm missing our lunches and your salsa! I can only imagine how good it was. How are things with you, besides busy in the lab?
Things are pretty good here. I am tired of mowing the lawn - it is time for a break from mowing!! I have been spending a lot of time indoors because it has been so humid. The garden is a weed patch but I have a lot of cucumbers and beans. I will give your congrats to Elesa and the family. Leave the toffee chips out of the ooey gooey bars - won't taste the same but you don't need to cut anything open with the chips. Ok, my incubation is almost over. I better get back to work.
ReplyDeleteYea whats with all this humidity? yuck. But i doubt your garden is a weed patch. And thanks for the advise with the ooey gooey bars. Take a break from mowing and make chad do it!
